Terms of Service
Terms for using Free Model as an independent OpenRouter free-route directory and bounded Chat workspace, including evidence limits, third-party processing, and acceptable use.

Agreement
By accessing Free Model, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the site. These terms apply to the public directory, the optional Chat workspace, and any restricted operator tools made available to you.
What Free Model provides
Free Model is an independent information directory. It collects and organizes public model-catalog facts, free-access conditions, independently generated usage examples, and evidence from controlled verification requests. When operational safeguards are ready, Free Model may also expose a limited Chat workspace that lets visitors try selected free routes using a dedicated Free Model service credential.
Free Model is not a general-purpose API gateway, model host, inference provider, reseller, or paid-model router. Directory examples are for direct use under your own OpenRouter account. The optional Chat workspace does forward the conversation context needed for a selected request from your browser through Free Model and OpenRouter to the model provider. It does not issue visitor credentials, expose the service credential, provide a general-purpose proxy API, or guarantee that a third-party route will accept a request.
Chat workspace
Chat is offered for temporary evaluation, subject to availability and strict limits. It is disabled by default and may be hidden or stopped whenever its dedicated credential, free-only model restrictions, internal availability evidence, budget cap, or service quotas fail a readiness check.
Only models shown in the current Chat model selector are permitted. Switching models changes the model for the next request while retaining the conversation context in your browser. A model name, response, or previous success does not guarantee continuing availability or identical behavior.
Free Model stores Chat history in your browser, not in its server-side conversation tables. Messages and responses must still be processed in transit by Free Model, OpenRouter, and the selected model provider. Do not submit secrets, credentials, regulated data, confidential material, unlawful content, or personal data you do not have authority to process. You are responsible for reviewing and validating generated output before using it.
Chat request limits protect a shared service credential and may be stricter than OpenRouter's limits. You may not evade those controls by rotating addresses, automating browsers, distributing requests, or otherwise disguising a single user or workload. We may reject, stop, or temporarily block requests without notice to protect the service and its budget.
Third-party services
OpenRouter and model creators or providers are independent third parties. Their APIs, accounts, availability, pricing, rate limits, acceptable-use rules, licenses, content policies, and privacy practices are governed by their own terms. You are responsible for reviewing and complying with those terms before using a model or provider, including through Chat.
A link, listing, status, or code example does not constitute endorsement, partnership, sponsorship, or an official guarantee from OpenRouter or a model creator. Free Model is not affiliated with or endorsed by OpenRouter unless expressly stated otherwise.
Availability information
Free access changes frequently. A status is an observation within a stated scope, including a particular route, interface, modality, account cohort, region, and time. A successful text probe does not verify vision, tools, structured output, or every account type.
We distinguish official catalog observations from real inference checks and show evidence timestamps where available. Even a recently verified route can later be rate-limited, changed, removed, or unavailable to your account. You must validate current conditions before relying on a route in production.
Free Model may correct, delay, remove, or retain historical listings without notice. Historical pages may describe a route that is no longer available and will be labeled accordingly.
Free does not mean unrestricted
A zero-price route may still require an account and API key and may be subject to daily limits, per-minute limits, capacity constraints, region restrictions, eligibility rules, or account-balance requirements. You are responsible for monitoring your own usage and avoiding paid fallbacks or other charges.
Free Model does not reimburse third-party charges, lost credits, or costs resulting from your direct API configuration. Confirm the exact model ID, routing preferences, and provider billing behavior in your own account. Chat uses Free Model's service credential and accepts only its current server-side allowlist; this restriction does not turn a status observation into a permanent cost or availability guarantee.
Code examples
Examples are provided for convenience and are written for the route shown on the page. You are responsible for securing your credentials, testing the code, handling errors, and adapting it to your environment.
Never place an API key in client-side code, a public repository, a support message, or a browser URL. Examples use environment-variable placeholders for this reason.
Free Model will not ask you to paste an OpenRouter API key into Chat. If a page or message claiming to be Free Model asks for one, do not provide it.
Acceptable use
You may use and link to the public directory for lawful research, evaluation, and development. You must not:
- interfere with the site's operation or attempt to bypass its access controls;
- scrape or query the site in a way that materially disrupts service;
- access restricted operator features without authorization;
- submit malware, deceptive content, secrets, or content you lack the right to process to any site input;
- bypass Chat model restrictions, request quotas, spending controls, or other safeguards;
- use Chat as an automated inference API, production dependency, or substitute for your own provider account;
- misrepresent Free Model evidence as an official provider guarantee; or
- use the directory to violate a third party's rights or terms.
Intellectual property and attribution
Free Model's original site design, explanatory text, normalization logic, and independently created examples are protected by applicable law. Model names, provider names, logos, and trademarks belong to their respective owners and are used only to identify the subjects of the directory.
Catalog facts and source excerpts may originate from third parties. Source links and attribution are provided where appropriate. Open-source components and imported materials remain subject to their respective licenses.
Corrections
We welcome evidence-based corrections about pricing, account requirements, model identity, route behavior, licensing, or attribution. Use the contact method published on the site or repository and include a source URL and observation time. Do not include API keys, private prompts, or sensitive account data.
No warranties
The service, Chat outputs, and all information are provided "as is" and "as available." Model output may be inaccurate, harmful, incomplete, or inappropriate. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, continuous availability, and suitability for production use.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Free Model and its maintainers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost data, revenue, credits, access, or business opportunity arising from the site or a third-party service.
Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid directly to Free Model for the relevant service during the preceding twelve months or the minimum amount required by law. Public directory access is currently provided without charge.
Suspension and changes
We may restrict abusive access, change site features, or discontinue the service. We may also update these terms. The date at the top identifies the current version; continued use after an update constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
Governing rules
Applicable mandatory consumer and data-protection rights are not limited by these terms. Any dispute should first be raised through the contact method published on the site so that the parties can try to resolve it informally.
Contact
For questions about these terms, use the contact method published on the Free Model website or project repository. Never send an API key or password.
